Zambia’s Lungu, Ethiopia PM in Uganda for summit


President Edgar Lungu of Zambia welcomed by Foreign minister Oryem

President Edgar Lungu of Zambia has arrived in Uganda for a regional summit on terrorism.

He was received on arrival at Entebbe airport by the minister of International Relations Henry Okello Oryem.

Also present is the Prime Minister of Ethiopia Hailemariam Desalegn.

He was received on arrival at Entebbe airport by the Minister of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, Ephraim Kamuntu.

South Sudan president Salva Kiir arrived earlier in Uganda to attend the mini-summit in Kampala.

He arrived at Entebbe airport minutes before the arrival of Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who landed at 1PM local time, to attend a small ceremony at Entebbe airport.

Government spokesperson, Ofwono Opondo said the mini-summit at State House, Entebbe, will involve seven African leaders.


Desalegn received by Kamuntu

Its focus will be on combating terrorism.

Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta, Rwandan President Paul Kagame, and Tanzanian Foreign Minister Augustine Mahiga are expected in Uganda ahead of a summit with Netanyahu.

Benjamin Netanyahu jets into Uganda today as he embarks on a five-day Africa tour, the first by an Israeli Prime Minister since 1994.

His brother “Yoni” was among those killed when Israeli commandos raided Entebbe to free Israelis who had been taken hostages by Palestinian hijackers.
