Hundreds of police personnel attached to unauthorised persons (like so-called celebrities) and “VIPs” in the country should be withdrawn and deployed to confront the many security challenges.
They should instead hire private bodyguards.
The Inspector General of Police should deploy a high level monitoring team to enforce the withdrawal of police officers from very important personalities, VIP, who are not entitled to their services.
The monitoring team should have the powers to stop VIPs on the highways, airports and so on, for confirmation of their status and that of the police officers attached to them.
Honestly, the nation cannot be battling with an inadequate Police Force, while majority of these scarce officers are in the service of few privileged Ugandans, who ordinarily should have no need for them.
