Kabale, NRM Chairperson, the iron politician also Amama Mbabazi’s in-law, Hope Mwesigye, has written to the ruling NRM party Secretary General, Kasule Lumumba, explaining that she doesn’t understand the content in the latter’s letter.
Lumumba wrote to Hope and the same letter was sent to Mbabazi, his wife Jacqueline and former Vice President, Prof Gilbert Bukenya.
The letter which Hope received on July 21, 2015, was inviting the group to meet the NRM team formed by the Central Executive Committee (CEC) to reconcile them with the party executive.
They were at first called to meet the committee on Thursday at State House Nakasero but none showed up.
Today, Friday, only Mbabazi accepted to meet President Yoweri Museveni and his team comprising of; Prime Minister, Ruhakana Rugunda, CEC members Maj. Gen Matayo Kyaligonza, Mike Mukula and Abdul Nadduli.
Hope and her equally strong-willed sister, Jacqueline Mbabazi, also the chairperson NRM Women League, refused to attend.
In her letter dated July 24, 2014 and addressed to Lumumba, Hope-the former Agriculture minister-explains why she did not attend the meeting.
“Reference is made to your unreferenced letter dated 21st July, 2015. I have just received the said letter at 4:30pm today, exactly one hour before the planned “interact”. This is very short notice,” Hope writes.
She, however, suggests that what Lumumba put in the letter was lacking substance because she, Hope, did not understand it at all.
“Furthermore, you do not indicate the nature as well as the substance of the “interaction” so that I can make adequate preparations.”
She signed Hope R Mwesigye, NRM Chairperson, Kabale district and copied the letter to the NRM National Chairperson and NEM Members of CEC.
