Today am quarreling.
If it is true that colonialism was exploitative, how come that many of our people struggle to go to nations like South Africa which stayed longer under colonialism?
How come that those countries with which we got independence at the same time in Asia have progressed to compete with their former colonial masters while we enjoy our poverty, ignorance and disease?
If colonialists were really brutal, how come they allowed political parties to be formed and voices of dissent were left to prevail?
They even organized the only peaceful, free and fair elections that Ugandans ever witnessed.
Right now opposition politicians can’t have the freedom they need to carry out their activities!
If colonialists were stealing our wealth, how come that the same wealth they left for you in 1962 has not done the work equivalent to what they did in the same period they were in charge?
The Railway that passes Kimwanga was constructed by whites.
How will you convince me that independence was worth it? How shall we convince our children or children’s children that it was worthy it for Masaba to demand for freedom only to be ruled by Okello, Nsubuga and Tumusiime?
What has independence done that was not done back then? Replacing white Bwana mkubwas with black slave drivers.
I hear Uganda signed an agreement with some Arab countries to supply them with graduate maids. Which university trains maids for God’s sake?
