Vice President Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi has attributed his successes in life to his mother who always offered guidance and urged him to recite Holy Rosary whenever faced by challenges.
He added that his mother emphasized to all her children about the importance of protecting their integrity as well as the family name, which virtues, have been pivotal in his life.
The Vice President was yesterday speaking during the centenary birthday commemorations of his mother Nabukalu Virigo Kiwanuka at Stallion Hotel in Busega which were preceded by holy mass led by Rev. Fr. Joseph Kimbugwe of Busega Catholic Parish church.
The Vice President extolled God for the continued life of his mother who has seen fourth-generation grand children and also paid gratitude to the doctors and nurses who have played a significant role in keeping her 100year old mother healthy.
Ssekandi thanked his family members especially the grand children for organizing the fete, which has been a great honour for their grandmother.
Close family friends led by Bukoto East Member of Parliament Nsubuga Birekerawo commended Ssekandi for his humility, which they attributed to his unique upbringing by his mother.
Reverend Father Joseph Kimbugwe said that it is biblical to mark anniversaries and thank God for the gift of life. He said that people in advanced age must be treated cautiously since they have short tempers like for children and could end up annoying the people who tend them.
Morgan Rosco Bonna a grandson of Jjajja Nabukalu now a Botswana resident describes her as a true princess of Bulegeya who always welcomes all types of people.
Nabukalu was born to Mzee Mwabazi Alex and Thecla Nakalema in 1916 April 21 and got married to the late Alex Kiwanuka Majwega with whom they produced children, one of whom is the country’s current Vice President Edward Kiwanuka.
