Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) presidential candidate, John Magufuli, a week back entertained voters in Kayanga Karagwe district where he nearly choked on “push ups” to exhibit his fitness to rule the country.
Magufuli employed gymnastics on stage to explain that he had the necessary energy to lead Tanzania.
“I have the power to do the job,” he told the cheering massive crowd, adding, “or strike me push up”.
A recent opinion poll Magufuli in the lead over the opposition coalition’s candidate, Edward Lowassa.
The poll results gave Dr Magufuli a huge lead of 65 per cent over Lowassa’s 25 per cent, should the elections be held today.
Lowassa is a former prime minister who defected from CCM to the opposition to run for the presidency under a Chadema ticket.
He is the main rival of Dr Magufuli, the minister of works, for the top job.
Tanzania will go to elections a few weeks from now.
