Video: Police explains NBS TV’s Remmy, Ingrid arrest


The Uganda Police Force has today 1st March 2016 arrested three (3) people for obstructing Police Officers on duty and disobeying Lawful orders given to them by the Kasangati Division Police Commander Superintendent of Police Kawalya James.

The guidance (order) was to park their vehicles at the parking area Police had gazzetted for parking.

Some members of the visiting group of about thirty five (35) people complied and parked their vehicles while others objected, necessitating their arrest.

Those arrested are: Sempijja Ismail, Remmy Bahati (Journalist) and Ingrid Turinawe.

“The Uganda Police Force would like to re-assure the Media Fraternity of our commitment towards working together harmoniously,” says ACP Namaye Polly, Deputy Press and Public Relations, in a statement.

“However, we would like to encourage all Journalists to maintain a professional code of conduct and to desist from disobeying lawful orders aimed at managing public order.”

Remmy confirmed her release saying she was not charged.
