The 9th parliament opposition leader, Wafula Oguttu, has been summoned by police to make a statement about his appearance in the video which went viral on social media about opposition leader Dr. Kizza Besigye seeming to make an oath for presidency.
On Wednesday May 11, 2016, under circumstances yet to be explained, Dr. Kizza Besigye eluded the security around his home and ended up in downtown Kampala.
Many of his supporters noticed him and followed him in crowds.
Uganda police deployed with tear gas and bullets shot in the air to disband the crowd. No one was injured.
Dr. Besigye was soon arrested and then flown to Moroto where he is currently being held in the Moroto Government prison. He has been charged with treason and terrorism.
Today Hon. Wafula Oguttu recieved received a letter from the police to explain his appearance.
Dr. Besigye is scheduled to appear in court this week. He was charged in Moroto court and no lawyers or family members were allowed into the court room. He did not enter a plea.
Go Forward opposition leader John Amama Mbabazi has offered to be a lawyer for Besigye.
