The National Resistance Movement party presidential flag bearer, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has promised to clear payment of all veteran soldiers who have not got their money.
He made the pronouncement on Monday evening at a rally in Arua Hill Boma grounds, while addressing the people of Arua Municipality.
According to Museveni, the veterans across the country are demanding 1.5 trillion shillings from the government over the past years.
The president says government has managed to pay 500 billion, leaving a balance of 1,000 billion shillings which he will ensure is paid.
He confirmed that government already budgeted 70 billion shillings this financial year for paying the veteran soldiers.
Yesterday, Sarah Kataike, the State Minister for Luweero Triangle asked the former Prime Minister, Amama Mbabazi, to keep off the issue of compensating veterans.

Last week, Mbabazi’s held a rally in Luweero town where he condemned Museveni’s government for not paying veterans after 30 years.
Amama wondered how people who fought to bring Museveni into power could not be paid their money for all this long.
He promised to start a veterans’ fund and pay them their money so they can live a dignified life.
