NBS TV journalist, Elijah Turyagumanawe, was this afternoon arrested by the police outside Kizza Besigye’s home in Kasangati.
The journalist was cornered while reporting live and forced into a police van.
His cameraman Wasswa Hassan was not spared either.
Also picked were journalists; Dean Lubowa Saava and Kiwanuka Stephen.
According to the video released by the Kamwokya based television, Turyagumanawe kept reporting his own arrest and that of his colleagues until they were whisked away to Kasangati police station.
Hours later, they were released from detention.
On Saturday, NTV cameraman Abubaker Zirabamuzaale and reporter Suhail Mugabi, Daily Monitor’s Eriasa Mukiibi and Abubaker Lubowa, were arrested on orders of Kasangati district police commander, James Kawalya.
NBS TV’s Moses Namayo, Jordan Mubangizi and NTV driver Fred Bwanika, were also detained on orders of police human resources director, Andrew Felix Kaweesi.
They were arrested while waiting for former Prime Minister, Amama Mbabazi who was also blocked from seeing Besigye.
