NRM Electoral Commission chairman, Tanga Odoi, says under no circumstances will he resign his office.
Tanga was Wednesday addressing press after errant NRM supporters raided Kyadondo party headquarters demanding that he revises results announced in Rubaga South elections.
According to provisional results, Fariidah Mpiima Mayanja won the Rubaga South MP seat after polling 3671 votes, followed by Male Charles Ken 1660 votes, Ronald Kiiza 1347 votes, and Mutyaba 330 votes.
Angry supporters stormed Tanga’s office demanding fresh elections upon which the EC chair told them to write a petition.
The petition should include all evidence incriminating the party they claim was involved in rigging of votes, Tanga explained.
He told them the commission cannot annul the results without evidence.
NRM EC deputy chairman, John Arimpa Kigyagi says Al Hajji Moses Kigongo, the national vice chairperson, will head committee handling petitions arising from NRM Primaries.
“We will analyse to see if they were fair. If Kiiza Kapanga Tito was cheated, we will have fresh elections,” Odoi later told press.

He said the tense Hoima elections will be handled after the party delegates conference.
“Where ever we have had name issues, we will have fresh elections.”
It was at the same press briefing that he was asked whether he considered resigning.
“I will not resign,” he was loud and clear.
“Resign? For what? I cannot be pressured. No one can scare me,” he clarified.
The EC chair has been under intense press from members and the public who accuse him of failing to organise free and fair elections.
NRM elections across the country were characterised by ballot stuffing, voter bribery, intimidation and violence that saw party offices, members houses, Museveni T-shirts and party cards set on fire.
Prominent Members of Parliament were even found with pre-ticked ballot papers in Odoi’s organised election.
