Police has released from its cells opposition Forum for Democratic Change leaders who were arrested in the election period.

It all started when FDC youth leaders in Mbarara on Friday converged at Mbarara Central Police station and pitched camp.

They demanded the release of four colleagues only identified as Vincent, Abdul Karim and two others who have been in detention for a month.

They were first detained at Special Investigations Unit [SIU] Kireka and Nalufenya in Jinja before being transferred to Mbarara this week.

As the day progressed, more FDC members joined the youth leaders bringing the number to over 70 who camped at the police station in a peaceful sit-in demonstration.
