Kakayi was kidnapped on May 11 by unknown assailants who bundled her into a waiting vehicle outside Christ the King Parish Church in the heart of Kampala city.
She had gone to attend prayers but when she crossed the road to buy airtime, she did not make it back.
Kakayi who cannot stand or sit now, narrated the horror of her abduction to NBS television.
Men apparently put her on gunpoint and forced her into a vehicle before being drugged.
Kakayi later woke up in a hut in an unknown place where she was tortured.
“A man grabbed me and tore my dress off. I screamed. Then he slapped, punched and kicked me to keep quiet.”
Kakayi was later abandoned at Aswa bridge in Gulu district.
Her life is currently deteriorating.
FDC secretary for mobilisation Ingrid Turinawe who visited the vice chairperson of the Youth league, says after being driving to unknown places, the official was injected with chemicals that made her unconscious.
“I visited Zerida, her story is so shocking! After a whole week of terrible torture! In an isolated hut, (read safe house in Gulu) she was driven and abandoned for dead on the road side at the bridge – River ASWA boarder of Pader and Gulu. Good Samaritans rescued her, before they called Kampala family who went to pick her. She has an injured back; she cannot walk on her own. She needs prayers.”
Ingrid said after listening to Kakayi’s story, she couldn’t imagine “these things can even happen in our motherland”.
