Video: Chain protesters hit streets again, caged


Opposition protesters who chain themselves on poles have hit Kampala streets once again.

Two protesters dressed in white T-shirts were sighted at Nakivubo market in downtown Kampala.

Police deployed swiftly, rounded them up and detained.

The protests started weeks back as a cool for the release of opposition leader Kizza Besigye from house arrest.

By last week, 12 youth had been arrested over chain protests and subsequently detained.

At the close of the week, five of them were released by Makindye Magistrates court on bail.

On Tuesday, Buganda Road Court Grade One Magistrate Gladys Kamasanyu charged more six youth for holding an unlawful assembly.

They are; Latif Bazibu, Didas Mugisha, Badru Magumba, Sande Kiweewa, Alex Apangu, and Isaac Kyagulanyi.

They denied the charges and were remanded to Luzira prison until April 18.
