President-elect Faustin Archange Touadera has paid a visit to UPDF contingent hunting for Joseph Kony and his rebels in Central Africa Republic (CAR).
Faustin Archange Touadera, the former prime minister of the Central African Republic, on Saturday was declared the winner of the February 14, 2016 presidential election.
On Tuesday, he toured a UPDF base at Obbo and held a meeting with army officials.
In a video shared by army spokesperson, Lt Col Paddy Ankunda, the president-elect is seen inspecting UPDF guard of honour.
Last year, partners, including the USA, extended further support to the AU mission in CAR to allow the total destruction of the terrorist LRA group.
UPDF deployed to CAR following Kony’s rebels who by 2013 had fled South Sudan, passed through Congo forests to connect to the central Africa.
The group has registered some successes including rescuing abductees as well as prompting the surrender of LRA commander Dominic Ongwen.
