Army spokesman Lt Col Paddy Ankunda continues to blame Lt Gen Henry Tumukunde for the chaos that occurred in Fort Portal town on Tuesday.
In a video recorded by NBS TV, Ankunda wonders what a 3-star general was doing at a youth election at 3am?
“This is very perturbing. Secondly, he is a general. He knows the difference between a bullet and a blunt object.”
Ankunda insists it was a canister that was shot by a police officer after they disturbed the police.
“I am told that the candidate pushed the police officer down and when he got up he threw the cannister between the two individuals.”
While Tumukunde told press that he was shot on orders of CDF Gen Katumba Wamala, Ankunda says the army was not involved.
“There was no shooting. We are very very surprised that a general of Henry Tumukunde’s level can make such false allegations when he knows it. I think that was very improper conduct.”
Ankunda says the General had escorts with him and “he was bragging around telling people that he is a general and that he had to make sure that his son is treated fairly”.
“There was no unfair treatment. These people were in the hall and he wanted to go in. The police told him that is not acceptable. And he wouldn’t take any of that.”
Ankunda says Tumukunde’s boastful conduct is what caused the shooting of the cannister.
“What you sow is what you get.”
