Victoria University academic administrative staff have resolved not to return to work prompting management of the institution to take a drastic action.
The chairperson of the university council, David Matovu, said in a statement that the acting Vice Chancellor, Faculty Deans and Heads of Departments resolved not to report to work effective November 1, 2016.
They include; Dr. Patience Muwanguzi, Dean Public Health, Maximus Byamukama Dean Faculty of Science & Technology, Dr. Francis Waiswa (Acting Vice Chancellor) & Dean Faculty of Business & Management, Dr. Gloria Faculty of Health Sciences, Dr.Martha Kibuka-Musoke Dean Humanities & Social Sciences.
“They have breached their contract of employment and constructively dismissed themselves from the university services,” Matovu said.
As such, the University Council appointed Mr. Joseph Nyakana who is the University registrar to serve as the acting Vice Chancellor until further notice.
Matovu said despite the exit of the academic staff, the services of the University will not be disrupted.
The Vice Chancellor Dr. Stephen Robert Isabalija resigned from Victoria University in September.
