Hoima Resident District Commissioner, Godfrey Nyakahuma, has come under fire for referring to former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi as a snake.
While appearing on Spice FM radio talk show Spice Parliament on Saturday morning Nyakahuma referred to Mbabazi as snake in the pot which will be removed.
His utterance hasn’t gone down well with members of Hoima Civilian War Veterans Association.
They want the RDC to apologise.
Through their chairman, Joseph Karugaba Apuuli, the veterans describe the RDC’s utterances on Mbabazi as a sign of disrespect for NRM historicals and the ex-prime minister as a person.
Karugaba demands that the RDC should go back on radio, withdraw the statement and apologise.
Karugaba says despite the fact that they don’t support Mbabazi’s presidential bid, he remains a true member of NRM who should be respected.
In a telephone interview Nyakahuma maintained his word saying Mbabazi is a snake because he has destabilised NRM.
“How do I call such a person who is destabilising the movement, isn’t he a snake”, Nyakahuma said on phone.
He also scoffed at Karugaba describing him as a nobody who should not waste his time.
Mbabazi is challenging his longtime ally President Yoweri Museveni for presidency and the position of NRM Chairman.
According to his earlier plan, Mbabazi was scheduled to visit Hoima district on July 23 for his consultative meetings.
