Minister in charge of Kampala Beti Kamya on Wednesday ordered all vendors to leave the streets before Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) reigns on them.
Following this harsh directive, leaders at different levels in Kampala and the neighboring towns have rose up to critic this decision.
On Saturday morning, the Kawempe North KCCA councilor Ssegirinya Muhammad has Called upon all the vendors not to vacate the streets until when the stake holders meeting at city hall is concluded.
Ssegirinya insists that street vendors are not criminals and they all pay taxes to government and regardless of social classes, therefore they all deserve equal opportunities.
He further threatened to spearhead head demonstrations if fair recommendations are put in place.
On Monday 24th October, Lord mayor Erias Lukwago, has organized the stakeholders meeting at City hall and its this meeting that will determine Kampala street vendors fate.
