UWA official, UPDF soldier shot dead


Uganda Wildlife Authority law enforcement officials collect some of the ivory

Gunmen attacked and opened fire on Uganda Wild Life Authority officers attached to Ajia Wild Life Reserve on Sunday night.

According to the West Nile police spokesperson, Josephine Angucia, the attack left two UWA officials dead.

The deceased; Robert Amdra and Lance Cpl Albert Okello, were shot while tracking an unidentified man who reportedly stole a gun from their camp.

Police has started a hunter for the killers.

Lt Ronald Ovon, the UPDF 409 Brigade spokesperson, told Daily Monitor that Lance Cpl Okello and Amadra were ambushed while riding a motorcycle.

He said the suspect is believed to be a poacher in the game reserve.

Ajia Game Reserve is located in Ogoko Sub-county in Arua District.

Bodies of the deceased were taken to Arua Regional Referral Hospital for postmortem.
