URA licks Sugar to lift Mapinduzi trophy

Youthful striker Peter Lwasa came off the bench to score twice as URA FC beat Mtibwa Sugar 3-1 at Amaan stadium to lift the 2016 Mapinduzi Cup.

The centre forward replaced Villa Oromchan after 53 minutes to score in the 85th and 88th minutes respectively.

Julius Ntambi opened the scoring for the Taxi Collectors with Oromchan bagging the assist.

Kefa Kisala’s side were the dominant side throughout the game and should have ended the first half 2-0 up but Elkanah Nkugwa missed a great chance after being played through by Noah Ssemakula.

After the break, the Tanzanian outfit pressed for an equaliser but it was URA FC who doubled their lead with Lwasa the hero as he got at the end of Allan Munaaba and three minutes later, made it 3-0.

Second half substitute Jaffar Salum scored Mtibwa’s consolation in the 90th minute but it wasn’t enough as URA FC won.

The Tax Men join KCCA as the only other Ugandan side to have ever lifted the annual tournament.

Besides the trophy, URA FC also won a prize cash prize worth $ 10,000 while Mtibwa walked away with $ 5,000.

Lwasa finished as the tournament’s top scorer of the tourney while teammate Oromchan finished with two goals.
