Uganda Defence Forces has suspended three commanders serving under AMISOM in Somalia after an attack on their base left 10 soldiers dead.
Last week, Al Shabaab launched an attack on a Ugandan army base in Janaale southern Somalia taking the base for hours and capturing weapons.
The suspended commanders are; Col Bosco Mutambi (commander of Battle group 16), Maj Noel Mwesigye (13th battalion commander) and Capt Swaibu Yusuf (commander of company attacked).
Army deputy spokesperson, Henry Obbo, says the suspensions are normal and part of criteria to see investigations carried on.
The commanders are to be investigated by a board of inquiry chaired by Brig Jack Bakasumba.
The board also comprises of lawyers and commanders who previously worked in Somalia.
The board is expected to give its report in two weeks’ time.
