A Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) who was arrested on Tuesday for using President Yoweri Museveni’s brother Caleb Akwandanaho popularly known as Gen. Salim Saleh’s name to intimidate Uganda National Roads Authority officials is to be charged in court.
Captain Ali Idagiri will be charged with impersonation of Saleh after he was arrested by police in Luwero for reportedly claiming to be attached to State House but working under Gen Saleh’ office.
His woes started when he ordered UNRA officials at weigh bridges to release two trucks they had impounded for overloading.
Captain Idagiri allegedly claimed the two trucks were carrying government secrets and therefore General Salim Saleh who also heads Operation Wealth Creation had ordered that UNRA official should not interfere with government.
Lady luck eluded him when ve failed to convince the weighbridge staff that Gen Saleh had directed him to ensure that two trucks that had been intercepted for overloading are released by UNRA staff.
