UPDF commander arrested for killing a cyclist
Police in Uganda has arrested a serving senior commander in the national army force for killing a cyclist.
Col James Nambale, UPDF’s director for estates was arrested by police in Mpigi District in central Uganda for allegedly knocking dead a 20-year old man on a bicycle at Mbizzinya village, Buwama Sub-county and failing to report himself to police.
Phillip Mukasa, the Katonga region police spokesperson said Col Nambale was arrested at one of the checkpoints along Masaka- Kampala road as he tried to flee the accident scene.
He was driving a Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) vehicle at the time of the accident.
At the time of the accident, the colonel was reportedly on his way to Mbarara District in Western Uganda for the weekend.
