Unknown people have burnt down offices belonging to Maseno University on September 24, destroying offices that host the department of public health.
The institution headquarter is located along Kisumu-Busia Highway.
The university vice-chancellor Julius Nyabudi said the fire started at 3am on Saturday and its cause has not yet been established.
“The building offices belongs to the department of public health. Routine office equipment such as computers were burnt,” Nyabudi is quoted by Daily Nation as saying.
“We have asked police to investigate the cause of the fire,” he added .
Maseno University has been in the news before for the wrong reasons. In October 2013, students protested alleged high levels of insecurity in the region.
They later set part of the university offices on fire which consumed the Finance and Dean of Students offices.
Fire in both secondary schools and in the institutions of higher learning have in the recent past been linked to the students.
