A police guard attached to Ndejje Police post in Luweero District was Sunday night found in a pool of blood after being attacked and left for dead by unknown assailants. The attackers even took off with his gun.
Festo Kibuuka is said to have been attacked at around 8:00PM by three machete wielding men as he left Ndejje University main campus in Luweero District to get supper at Ndejje trading Centre.
Savannah Region Police spokesperson Lameck Kigozi on Monday said Kibuuka was admitted to hospital with serious injuries and is now recovering.
According to Kigozi, the motive of the attackers was still unknown but had launched its investigations and hunt for the suspects who are on the run.
This is not the first time a police officer is being attacked and his gun taken away.
On April 1, 2015, a police officer attached to Kasana Police Post in Luweero Town was hacked to death by machete wielding men who raided the police post demanding for guns.
Godfrey Bala was killed as he tried to fight off the attackers who also injured another female police officer at the station.
