Today, President Uhuru Kenyatta witnessed the swearing in of the Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces Gen. Samson J Mwathethe at State House, Nairobi.
Also present was the Vice Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces, Lt-Gen. Joseph Kasaon, and the Kenya Army Commander, Maj. Gen. Leonard Ngondi.
Kenyatta appointed Samson J. Mwathethe Chief of Defence Forces to take over from Gen. Julius Waweru Karangi who he retired last month.
He said the development was part of the continued alignment of functions in his administration, and in order to enhance service delivery.
He promoted Lieutenant-General Samson J. Mwathethe to General and appointed him Chief of Defence Forces-Designate.
He also appointed Lieutenant-General Joseph K. Kasaon as the Vice Chief of Defence Forces-Designate.
He then promoted Major-General Leonard M. Ngondi to Lieutenant-General and appointed him Kenya Army Commander-Designate.
Appoints new judges
Also today, Tuesday, Kenyatta on the advice of the Judicial Service Commission, appointed 14 new High Court judges.
The judges are Riechi Stephen Nyangau, Sawe Olga Akech, Winfrida Adhiambo Okwany, Otieno Patrick Okwara, Anthony Kimani Ndung’u, Mugure Thande, Margaret Njoki Mwangi and Githinji Stephen Murugu, Dorah O. Chepkwony, Ongeri Asenath Nyaboke, Kiarie Waweru Kiarie, Njuguna Lucy Mwihaki, Mativo Muting’a John and Nyakundi Reuben Nyambati.
