Uganda Cranes first choice goalkeeper Denis Onyango has been nominated for the 2016 African Footballer Award.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced Onyango as one of the players nominated for the prestigious award. “I am glad to be nominated for this prestigious award,” Onyango told Ugandan media last weekend.
The experienced goalkeeper has been in great form this year helping Uganda Cranes qualify for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon). He also helped the team qualify for the group stage of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Onyango was in good form leading his South African side, Mamaledi Sundowns, reach the finals of the lucrative CAF Champions League where they beat Egypt’s Zamalek 3-0 in the first leg last weekend.
