Ugandans living in North America under their umbrella UNAA Causes want a partnership between traders in the USA and business operators from the different African states.
Through a business expo dubbed “Africa is the Future” set for September 3 at JW MARRIOTT hotel in Los Angeles L.A, Ugandans led by Mr David Muwanga, a Denver based Real Estate professional want to provide platform for compelling entrepreneurship ideas, exposure to businesses opportunities in East Africa, and tourism promotion.
“We have looked at the East African Community and African Union and decided to kick start private efforts to promote trade with each other and tap the World’s top Market -North America,” Mr Muwanga said.
“The Business Expo and Conference are open to the American public and all interested African businesses, entrepreneurs and agencies for the first time in Uganda North American history; Professionals from Africa will be meeting professionals here (North America), entrepreneurs will be meeting their counterparts here too for networking and benchmarking. We shall also have exhibitions to give more exposure to African products for returns in the long run,” he added.
According to Mr Muwanga, the festival will also stretch to image building and promoting tourism specifically in East Africa since “Tourism is becoming the biggest revenue earner in most of the East African states.”
“The Festival team has engaged the reigning beauty queens in Africa as one of the Faces of “Africa is the future “campaign to help in marketing their respective brands (countries) to the American public. They Include; Current Miss Uganda, Zahara Mohammed Nakiyaga, Miss Kenya, Charity Njeri Mwangi, Miss Tanzania Universe ,Lorraine Marriott, Miss Rwanda 2016, Jolly Mutesi and Miss Ethiopia World Kisanet Teklehaimanot. We shall also have a presentation on Tourism sites in Uganda from the Uganda Tourism Board whom we are still hoping to buy our idea.
North America is the number one tourist source to East Africa,” Mr Muwanga said.
