Police on Saturday night arrested two Ugandans in Mauna residential area of Juba in connection with the alleged kidnapping of two women.

Police Officer Thomas Marino said the two suspects were Kizza Lawrence, 31 year old, and Masaba George, 36 years old, both Ugandan nationals.

They were arrested on Saturday on suspicion of kidnapping but they have not yet been charged.

The two women were allegedly taken from Mauna residential area to Serekat residential area by a family friend with the promise of waitressing jobs.

The women were then allegedly kept in a building in Serekat area after they had turned down the offer to prostitute themselves.

One of the victims escaped and reported the matter to Malakia police station.

Thomas said the reason they took more than a month to make arrests was that the escaped victim was not familiar with Mauna residential area and could not point out the place of the suspect to the police.

Thomas said police had been searching for the three women who had gone missing prior to making the arrests.

The two suspects and two women, whose names are here withheld, are now under police custody.
