Ugandan clearing agent killed in Kenya



Police in the border town of Malaba on Friday deployed to avert a planned protest by clearing agents over the death of their colleague.

Agaba Obed Kapere 32, an employee of Haraka Clearing and Forwarders died last weekend reportedly following an assaulted by Kenyan security officers in Mombasa port.

Obed was operating in Malaba before he relocated to Mombasa where he died. His body was received by relatives and friends at Malaba border and taken to St Stephen church of Uganda for a requiem mass.

Apollo Tera, Obed’s friend said he had lunch with him and parted ways but later received a strange call about the demise of Obed at around 3.00am.

Obed is said to have developed a misunderstanding with a bar owner who called Kenyan security officials.

He’s said to have been assaulted by the Kenyan security officers in Mombasa and admitted to hospital where he died.
