Another Ugandan official has collapsed and died aboard a plane under unclear circumstances.
Ambassador Najuna Njuneki, died on Sunday upon landing in Johannesburg South Africa while returning from a meeting in Stockholm Sweden.
He was part of Vice President Edward Ssekandi delegation to Nordic countries.
Foreign Affairs minister Sam Kutesa confirmed the death saying the ambassador collapsed while disembarking from the plane and died before any medical treatment could be administered.
His body is in the care of the Uganda’s High Commission in Pretoria but will be flown back home on Wednesday.
Njuneki was the Ambassador for Special Duties at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in Kampala and in-charge the Diaspora community.
He also coordinated the Ugandan aspect of the regional Northern Corridor Infrastructure projects.
Njuneki who hailed from the western Mitooma District becomes a second government official to die on a plane.
Former Internal Affairs minister Aronda Nyakairima also died in Dubai aboard an Emirates Airline plane while returning from South Korea.
