Uganda loses another strong one in the arts industry

Joseph Walugembe Uganda National Theatre

The former director of the Uganda National Cultural Centre (UNCC), Joseph Walugembe has passed away.

Mr. Walugembe suffered from anaemia and high blood pressure.

Walugembe left behind 3 sons and 3 daughters.

Walugembe directed the National Theatre from 2008 to 2012 and many will remember his passion for the arts.

Uganda has lost many artists over the last 3 years.

He was once crowned for his acting as the National Best Actor under UNCC  before taking on the teaching challenge.

Walubembe taught acting from 1999 to 20003.

He taught at Makerere University in the Music, Dance and Drama department.  He did also teach in secondary schools.

Walugembe’s work was global.  Some of the countries where he took his work to were Canada, North Korea, Russia, South Africa, USA, Europe and other African countries.

Walugembe participated in the arts in Uganda and globally.

The artists in Uganda are in mourning for the country has lost one of its best mentors.
