Uganda acquits Jesus Christ of impersonation

Court in Uganda has acquitted a self proclaimed ‘Jesus Christ’ who was recently remanded over impersation.

Solomon Semakula, the self styled Jesus Christ from Nakaseke district, appeared before Kiwoko Grade I Magistrates court today and was acquitted of all the charges of belonging to an unlawful society contrary to section 56 1 and 2 a of the Penal code act and managing an unlawful society contrary to section 57 of the penal code act.

He acepted to denounce the title Jesus saying he has suffered enough but failed to deliver himself from bondage like the Biblical Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

Solomon said he had a vision and did not know that it was from the devil.

“I failed to deliver myself like Jesus Christ and therefore I have decided to give up the name,”  he said.

According to him, although he denounced the name Jesus, he would continue spreading the gospel of Christ in accordance with the law.

He had been arrested along with eight of his folowers early last month following complaints from some people in his area of residence.

His followers whom he calls disciples like Jesus Christ of Nazareth were also released after confessing that they were misled by Semakula.

Apparently, the humble looking , tall ‘black Jesus’ lost his parents when he was young.

He was then adopted by a bishop who took him to Kenya to study Theology.

Upon his return, Semakula started his own church prophesying about events which sometimes would come to pass, according to his followers.

However, some people became scared when he started prophesying about their death promoting them to report to authorities.

He would tell them to follow him or die.

After the court session in which he was remanded, Semakula said those persecuting him will suffer the wrath of his father God who sent him.
