UCC executive director, Eng Godfrey Mutabazi, told NBS TV social media platforms and mobile money platforms will be turned back on upon receiving instructions from the electoral commission.
He claims the platforms were being used by some candidates to campaign, hours after campaigns ended.
He confirmed it was EC that asked them to switch off social media.
As for mobile money, Mutabazi says it was switched off following information that they platform to bribe voters across the country.
Mutabazi warned that media houses that breach the law risk being switched off without hesitation.
The country woke up to blocked social media platforms including YouTube, WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter and Mobile money services.
Some telecoms are sending messages to people claiming to be working upon their services.
