City businessman, Silva M Musubika, has dragged Pastor Peter Sematimba, to courts of law for allegedly defaming him.
Musubika who owns SMS Empire rushed to High Court in Kampala and filed a case accusing Sematimba of using his radio, Super FM, to make defamatory statements against him.
Daily Monitor quotes summons dated April 11, 2015, and signed by the Deputy Registrar of the court, Festo Nsenga, which require Sematimba to file a defence within 15 days.
It is alleged that between November 27 and 29 last year, Sematimba broadcasted false and malicious statements about Musubika.
Sematimba allegedly accused Musubika of bribing court, police, Directorate of Public Prosecutions, American Embassy, Inspectorate of Government and Uganda Revenue Authority to ruin him.
It is alleged that Sematimba openly called Musubika “a liar, conspirator, thief, quack, fraudster and forger”.
Musubika demands Sematimba to pay him Shs 400m damages.
Only last month, NBS TV personality and KCCA’s Makindye west councillor, Allan Sewanyana, was remanded to Luzira maximum prison by the Buganda Road Court Grade One Magistrate, Pamela Ocaya, on defamation charges.
Sewanyana is accused of tabling false “bwino” (defamatory remarks) directed at a sports betting company in town, Top Bet while presenting the Lunch Time Sports on NBS TV and the corresponding Ekisowani Kye’mizanyo on Top TV.
