Tooro Kingdom Princess Elizabeth Bagaaya and Kingdom officials have reached an impasse over a decision by the kingdom to turn the headquarters into a hotel for revenue.
The Kingdom offices located in Maguru will be turned into a first class hotel called Mucwa Royal hotel. It will have over 40 rooms, recreation center, swimming pool, a conference hall and the Kings royal suite.
However princess Elizabeth Bagaya opposes the construction of the hotel. She says that the kingdom has vast pieces of land where to construct the hotel. Bagaya says the kingdom’s building will lose its identity.
“The Kingdom headquarters are like the BuckinghampPalace in England or the Eiffel Tower in France, turning such structures into hotels kills their symbolism,” Bagaya said.
However the Kingdom Prime Minister said that the hotel will not affect the kingdom offices.
The matter dragged on back and force until it was put the vote. 58 members voter to turn the premises into a hotel while two (Princess Bagaya and another Kingdom Royal Mr Patrick Muganzi) voted against the idea.
The project will bring in an estimated 1.2 billion per year if completed.
