Three people have been arrested following attacks and shootings in Kasese district that left six people dead.
Rwenzori Regional Police Commander Bob Kagarura says there are very many extremists in Rwenzori region.
“Also, very many people are easily manipulated.”
He said the killed attackers wanted to get rifles from security forces. “Innocent security personnel were attacked, some were stabbed.”
He said police has three suspects in custody who will help them with further investigations.
“This wasn’t a project of one man. It looks organised. We are deploying for the worst case scenario as investigations continue.”
Addressing press on Sunday, the Inspector General of Police, Kale Kayihura, said those arrested will be charged with attempted murder.
“Law enforcement officers are allowed to use fire arms in self defense,” Kayihura maintained.
