Dear Mr President-Elect, on my own behalf and of that of my party, the Rwanda People Party
(RPP), I humbly wish to avail of this opportunity to congratulate you on being elected as the 45th
President of the United States of America. I felicitate with you over your victory in the
November 8 presidential election. I strongly believe that the victory was well-deserved.
Kindly permit me to avail myself of this rare opportunity to tell you that you will make an excellent
President. Congratulations on being elected as the 45th President of the United States of
I also want to extend my congratulations to the great people of the United States of America for
peacefully exercising their sovereign and democratic right to elect you as their leader. The
choice they made is a tribute to their courage, as well as their determination to safeguard their
freedom, dignity and keep the United States of America firmly on the road to sustainable
development. We salute them for designing and investing in an institution that promotes and
defend the peaceful expression of a sustainable democratic environment. Mr. President-elect,
the 8th of November, 2016 is a day that will remain evergreen in the memory of all the lovers of
democracy, progress and fairness and the admirers of Mr Donald J. Trump.
The November 8th, 2016 election result did not only show Americans that their freedom has come, but also has
provided them with the man who has become the voice of the voiceless. By electing you they
have chosen the path of making “America Great Again”, and by electing you, they have defied
and rebelled against a political system with its ethos of self-interest, money, power and fear that
have characterized the global political system and corporate interest groups for many decades.
The US electorates defied every odd and voted for the change that they have desired for many
decades. They rejected wars, globalism and the politics of deception and have chosen the path of
peace, harmony and friendship among the world of nations, small and big, weak and strong.
Mr Trump, your victory on November 8, was not just a victory for the American people alone,
but rather a victory for all the voiceless, the disadvantaged, the dispossessed, the excluded, the
oppressed and above all, a clear victory for the declining working class around the world, that
believe that they have no one to hear their grievances and address their anger, hurts and pains.
The immediate challenge facing your incoming administration, will be to unite the United States
and this requires an end to the divisions that have cut deep into the hearts of the American
These divisions are felt around the world; however, we are confident that you are the
very leader that is needed to help in the rebuilding of a broken American society and heal the
nation’s wounds, not only in the United States but also around the world.
Mr President-elect, I humbly call upon you, and your incoming administration to review the
current international aid policy in Africa. We have no doubt, there is a need for financial aid to
Africa, but we also believe that this total financial aid to African is not helping to address the
Continent’s deep-seated problems which are a result of its enforced poverty and
underdevelopment because of western exploitation of Africa.
Rather, it has led to more problems in Africa, which means that they continue to swim in poverty, starvation and diseases.
Financial aid only promotes corruption, enables the purloining of Africa’s natural and mineral
resources by western nations, wars and chronic instability. Furthermore, the donor and
recipient countries are not accountable for the distribution and utilisation of the aid. The tragic
consequences of just, mere pumping money into this continent without accountability are that,
the Continent remains a subject and under the influence of the western donor countries and
voracious multi-national corporations that are only seeking power, influence, and money. These
policies have had tragic consequences for the people of Africa.
Mr President-elect, Africa as a Continent is the richest on the planet, in terms of natural and
mineral resources, manpower and has an unmatchable climatic condition. Despite this abundant
wealth, Africa still remains an impoverished continent. This is because, Africa has been denied
or prevented from acquiring technical know-how. Persistently, Africa has also been denied the
ability to procure technological transfers, by the developed nations, which would have allowed
her to become a self-reliant continent, rather than having to tread the path of a recipient and
depending on foreign economic aid.
“The Sub-Sahara African alone, receives $164 billion a year as loans and development aid, the same western power milks and drains sub-Sahara Africa
$372 billion a year, thus leaving Africa with a-$208 billion a year in deficit. Also, Africa loses
over $60 billion a year in terms of tax evasion and repatriation of profits to the western
countries who are cynically using aid to Africa to hide the “sustained looting” of the continent’s
Today, they are taking more out of Africa than under the old colonial system. This is
the chronic saddest story behind financial aid to Africa.
Mr President-elect, Africa needs genuine, true , serious friends and partners to help her to
obtain the technical know-how and technological transfers to enable it to become a beacon to
the world, as a self-reliant and independent continent rather than a beacon for an indefinite
dependence on foreign aid, underdevelopment, wars, poverty, starvations, and infirmities.
These are primarily Africa’s expectations from you, and your incoming administration. We are
asking you to replace the level of financial aids with the huge technological know-how through
transfers and in terms of the training of Africans.
Mr President-elect, may I inform you that Africa is not a corrupt continent as infamously
portrayed in the western capitals; rather it has been represented as a corrupt continent by the
Western political establishment, covetous multi-national corporations, and the NGOs that have
been working tirelessly to weaken the continent’s inclinations. Mr Trump, the sleazy politics of
describing Africa as a continent of hunger, starvation, war, plagues and corruption is all part of
the policies and calculations of the Western political establishment, powerful special interest
groups and NGOs aimed at running away from their guilt, because of their corrupt policies in
Africa that have ravaged the continent for decades.
This infamous triangle of tragedies and poisonous spates has been made possible by a deliberately weaponised tsunami of misinformation, intended to confuse and mislead the world by a powerful media that exists inits own political and celebrity bubble. Like in the US, the corporate propagandist also spend their time, addressing each other on how the establishment wants to see the world in their own image and are promoting global injustices, global wars, politics of money, power and fear on behalf of the establishment, rather imparting to the establishment issues that affect the common
people in their day-to-day lives. This cannot be divorced from Africa many tragedies.
Mr President-elect, we would like to appeal to you to do everything possible to help end wars,
conflicts, youth restiveness and terrorism around the world, especially in Africa and the Middle
East. We humbly ask for your help in bringing peace to the world and help promote unity
around the globe.
Mr President-elect, Rwanda enjoys extraordinarily good relations, with both the Jewish State of
Israel and the Palestinian Authority. It’s my party’s conviction, Mr Trump, that your incoming
administration; make the dream of Palestinian statehood, a reality, alongside that of the Jewish
state of Israel, both sharing Jerusalem as a capital city of the two-brotherly people. Undoubtedly,
this could be possible under your leadership, Mr President-elect. We believe, that with, the
people’s will, there is the means for them to achieve their goals. This can be evidenced, by the
tremendous social and economic flourishing of my country Rwanda. In just 22 years, following
100 days of gruesome genocide, that took the lives of one million Rwandan Tutsi, devastated the
whole country and left it in ruins and ashes. Today, Rwanda is a different story, a story of a nation that clawed itself away from the harrows of genocide and the clutches of a failed state to become a global icon of an inspirational nation. Another great example is the November 8
Presidential Election, a historic moment that brought you into power, in defiance of all the odds.
We believe there is nothing that can forsake the Palestinian statehood, alongside a Jewish state
The state of Rwanda enjoys a unique special relationship with the state of the US of America.
It’s, therefore, the Rwanda People’s Party, (RPP) conviction and resolve to looking forward to
work with you to maintain and strengthen security, peace and prosperity of our two great
nations and peoples.
I sincerely thank you for taking out, time out of your tight schedule to read this long message. I
pray to the Almighty God to reward you with wisdom, happiness, good health, and the strength
to lead America to the land of fulfillment.
Once again, CONGRATULATIONS Your Excellency, President-Elect.
John V Karuranga, President
Rwanda People’s Party (RPP)
