The Democratic Alliance summit meeting sitting next week on Monday is set to discuss and decide on a petition by Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago’s platform for Truth and Justice (TJ), URN has learnt.
The chairperson of TDA’s Campaign Strategy and Coordination committee, Asuman Basalirwa Friday afternoon told journalists at the TDA offices in Naguru, that the Monday TDA summit will take a decision on the petition and formally write to Lukwago.
This followed Erias Lukwago’s visit to the TDA offices in Naguru Friday afternoon.
Lukwago was in the company of former presidential aspirant Samuel Lubega and Ssebuliba Mutumba, among others.
Disappointed, Lukwago wondered why TDA was treating Amama Mbabazi in a special way favouring him above others.
He said while TDA was tossing him about, only yesterday, the officials extended the deadline for Mbabazi to hand in nomination forms which to him was not fair.
His supporters also caused a hubbub at the offices while demanding to know the progress of their request to be part of the coalition.
“It’s true we didn’t make prior arrangements to appear here but it was necessitated by the delay in considering our application,” Lukwago told press.
According to Lukwago they had waited for a long period without any response from TDA hence the need to find out.
Lukwago was first blocked from using the room that had been prepared for a press conference and advised to address the media from outside the premises.
In his address, Lukwago said the reason he came to the offices was because he received a letter inviting him to be part of TDA about a month ago.
Basalirwa, however, said Lukwago’s team was informed that by Monday their application will have been worked upon.
