FDC presidential flag bearer has fired back at critics who branded him a “bad loser” in comparison to NRM challenger to The Democratic Alliance joint candidature, Amama Mbabazi.
The alliance once again disagreed and failed to pick a joint candidate at the Bugolobi 3-day Summit.
Norbert Mao who acted as the spokesman for the presidential flag bearers including himself, Mbabazi, Besigye and Gilbert Bukenya, said the group needs more time.
He said they would meet again today, Saturday and deliberate further.
However, the summit gave them Monday afternoon as the final deadline to decide who should carry the joint TDA flag in 2016 general elections.
Monday is also the deadline set by the Electoral Commission for picking nomination forms.
Mao said the summit had failed to agree on the matter of Mbabazi maintaining NRM membership, the same party the opposition has been fighting for decades.
Speaking after the failed meeting, Besigye their struggle was not an easy thing but that they were making progress.
“It’s a great progress as we can see the Prime Minister who was against us yesterday is today with us.”
As for the tag name “loser”, Besigye told off those “who say I’m a bad loser” that no selection had been made whatsoever.
“How does one become a bad loser before they even lose?”
Whispers in political circles have it that if Besigye loses to Mbabazi, he will stand on the FDC party ticket.
