“Tanga Odoi should go sell samosas,” presidential advisor on media, Tamale Mirundi, has advised.
Mirundi was angry at Tanga for failing to organise NRM primaries that have already registered bribery allegations, violence and vote rigging scandals.
“If he [Tanga] can’t organize LC1 elections,” Mirundi said while appearing on NBS TV on Tuesday, “let him go and sell samosas”.
The ruling National Resistance Movement [NRM] party last week postponed indefinitely its primary elections.
In a statement, the NRM Electoral Commission chairman, Tanga Odoi, said the postponement was inspired by “unforeseen circumstances”.
He also suspended candidates meetings for MPs, LC V’s save for candidates meetings for lower local government councils and chairpersons.
The postponement came amid violence, allegations of rigging and influence peddling that marred the lower level elections.
Richard Todwong, the NRM Deputy Secretary General, says the party is awaiting Parliament to conclude amendments to the electoral bills tabled before the House last week before setting dates for LC 5 and MP primaries.
Tentatively, the primaries are expected to resume between 5th and 8th October 2015.
