The cultural leader of Buruuli chiefdom Isabaruuli Mwogezi Butamanya has appointed new ministers, five months after he dissolved his entire cabinet.
The cabinet consisting of 43 Ministers and 51 advisors will be headed by Silvesteri Banumba Bugalalyo, a retired accountant in Uganda Revenue Authority as Prime Minister.
He replaces Erukamu Kwebeya.
Also appointed is Denis Muyomba as the 1st Deputy Prime Minister and Minister in charge of projects, Martin Etyang, the interdicted Assistant Commissioner in the Office of Prime Minister as Finance Minister, Captain Yosam Ssesanga who becomes the Attorney General and Justice Minister and Onesmus Katarikawe, the Lands Minister.
The Education and sports department will be headed by Engineer Ssenozi Wajja while the Information Ministry is controlled by Samuel Kaweesi.
Sarah Nakate, the Nakasongola district information officer is also appointed as Minister for Health, Elderly, Women and Children Affairs.
The appointments follow the 30th December 2014 uncertainty in which Isabaruuli dissolved his cabinet that comprised of 42 ministers and appointed George Ongom as the Chairperson of Interim committee to oversee the chiefdom activities.
Notable among the advisors is Muruli Mukasa, the Central government Minister for Gender, Labour and Social Development, Presidential Press Secretary, also self-proclaimed Museveni’s dog, Tamale Mirundi and Nakasongola Woman MP, Margaret Komuhangi.
Although he gave no reason for dismissing the ministers, sources said it stemmed from cabinet refusal to endorse his personal proposal to make the Buruuli cultural throne hereditary.
Isabaruuli’s Principal Private Secretary Patrick Lubega Mucwa says the newly appointed ministers will be approved by the clan council that will sit on 18th June 2015 as the chiefdom constitution stipulates.
However, Gerald Kyanjo Kimbugwe the Buganda representative in Buruuli County says the newly appointed ministers should use their offices to unite subjects rather than promoting tribalism and hatred.
