Suspected car robber beaten to death


Residents of Kyanja, a Kampala suburb on Sunday arrested two suspected robbers and beat them to pulp.

One of the suspects died on spot while the other was rescued by police and rushed to hospital in critical condition for medical attention.

According to police, one vehicle and a motorbike were recovered from the suspects.

“Today Sunday 4 September 2016, at around 4am, police was notified of mob action in the area. Police rushed to the scene, one suspected robber was already killed by the mob. Car reg no UAY 484 F was recovered and a motor bike Reg no UAH 085M brand new was also recovered at the scene. The other suspected robber who said he is PAUL KABOGGOZA claiming to be a resident of KYALIWAJJALA is in intensive care in Mulago hospital undergoing medical attention,” said Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson SSP Emilian Kayima.

According to him, both suspected thugs had no documentation on them.

Kayima further said preliminary information shows that the owner who is yet to go to the police station to record statements is called Robert Besigwa, a resident of Kyanja Parish, Walufumbe zone.
