Early this week, veteran television presenter, Straka Mwezi, was arrested for defaulting rent arrears totaling to Shs 5,150,000.
Straka was nabbed red-handed by Tobia Nsubuga (land lord) running out of the house after failing to pay rent for close to eight months.
She was together with her belongings driven to Bunamwaya police post and detained.
After several hours of detention, Straka managed to raise Shs 3m remaining with a balance of Shs 2m.
She was ordered to leave behind her car, a Toyota Ipsum, until she clears the remaining balance.
Straka started defaulting rent seven years ago.
According to KFM, Strake was in 2007 evicted from a rented house in Kireka.
This came two months after she had fled her Kiwatule apartment where she defaulted rent for six months.
In 2009, Straka was living in Kitende along Kampala – Entebbe highway.
She defaulted rent again and was evicted forcefully.
Straka speaks out
The TV personality has finally decided to break ice and speak out on her woes.
She said in a social media message that “a small minded man” (her Bunamwaya landlord) had tried to take advantage of her (a Proud self-made independent woman).
She claims he has been threatening her with cheap embarrassment if she doesn’t sleep with him as a form of payment.
“All that has been said won’t drain me down because I know my worth can never stoop down to a level of objectifying my body as a form of payment.”
“I whole heartedly thank everyone who’s been there to listen to me and understand me than judge me, my Fans, My Followers and my Friends.”
“If I was to advise that “gentle man” I’d tell him that every one of his lies destroys a whole reputation of his integrity.”
