Stop terrorising citizens, Dr Mulera tells Kayihura

Dr. Muniini K. Mulera, a Ugandan, is a Consultant Paediatrician & Neonatologist in Canada has asked police chief Kale Kayihura and his commander-in-chief, President Yoweri Museveni to cease “terrorising citizens”.

Mulera was referring the arrest of FDC candidate, Kizza Besigye, in Kampala.

This is what Mulera says:

Woke up to the news of police violence against Dr. Kizza Besigye and his supporters. KB is under siege in his vehicle as I write.

My appeal to Museveni and Kayihura, silence the guns and shut off the tear gas valves. Turn those sticks into firewood. Give peace a chance. Stop the terror against citizens. Leave KB to complete his campaigns.

My appeal to All citizens, ALL CITIZENS, do not physically fight back. Please, please do not raise your hand to strike or push a policeman or soldier.

Retreat to your homes, but defy the regime peacefully. How, you ask? Go out and vote and overwhelmingly vote for either Besigye or Mbabazi — your choice.

They will steal the votes, you say? Oh yes they will try. But if people do not vote, then the regime has a legal claim to legitimacy. Vote, keep the evidence. Prepare to go to court.

Nonviolent resistance is a long process, but truth and justice eventually triumph over terror and injustice.

We all must stand in solidarity with Dr. Besigye right now. Doesn’t matter whom you support as candidate. The attack on Besigye is an attack on you.

Spread the word my NRM friends. Spread the word my FDC friends. Spread the word my Go Forward friends.

All We Are Saying Is Give Peace A Chance!
