Former Makerere university researcher and lecturer Dr. Stella Nyanzi has decried the way police been handling Dr. Kiiza Besigye reaching an extend of stooping him to attend a court session.
According to Facebook post, Stella Nyanzi who is currently staying in South Africa said that the continued uninvited stay of police at Besigye’s home totally kills the meaning fullness of a home.
“A home is a place of safety for self, spouse, children and other dependants. We go home to rest and be loved. It is a private space to which only close kin and friends are welcome. We retire to our homes to rejuvenate, plan, relax, replenish ourselves and unwind.” Said Nyanzi.
The mother of twines also lauded the efforts by some city lawyers Lad Rwakafuzi and Karamagi Andrew for enlightening the public and exposing the un lawfulness of detaining Besigye in his own home.
“I watched a video recording of Counsel Lad Rwakafuzi and Karamagi Andrew explaining that it is unlawful to detain Dr. Kizza Besigye in his home because it is an ungazetted place. All the uninvited police officers throwing their weight around as they harass people at this home are lawbreakers.” Added Nyanzi.
Dr.Nyanzi also vowed not to give up on supporting Dr. Kiiza Besigye and the other Ugandans whose rights are being denied and abused by state machineries.
Furious Nyanzi concluded saying that Searching and identifying visitors to this private home by ordering them to register their details in a book manned by policemen is intimidation.
“Destroying gifts of food brought to this home is uncouth and very bad manners. We must beat kaluulu against the police’s occupation of that home.” Said Nyanzi
