Stanbic bank has issued an apology to state minister for water Ronald Kibuule after he allegedly beat up their female security guard early last week.
Hellen Obuku, a private security guard attached to Stanbic Bank Mukono, had reportedly insisted that the minister undergoes a routine security check like any other person before entering the banķ to transact his business.
The angry Kibuule then reportedly grabbed the guard and beat her up before flinging her away.
The minister then entered the bank and continued with his business.
Kibuule insisted that he had only cautioned Obuku to follow search procedure that mandates a man to search a man but Ms Obuku was adamant.
The minister later, reportedly ordered the police to arrest the guard on libel offences.
In a letter dated August addressed to the minister, Stanbic Bank Chief Executive, Patrick Mweheire said: “I wish to convey my sincere apologies for the inconvenience and embarrassment this incident might have caused you. The private security guard involved in this incident is not a Stanbic bank employee. We have communicated with the security company to remedy the problem going forward.”
But the apology rubbed some people the wrong way as some social media enthusiasts demanded for the arrest and prosecution of the minister for assaulting the guard like the case was with DR. Congo singer Koffi Olomidde when he assaulted one of his dancers.
