The Honorable Minister of State for Sports Charles Bakkabulindi has held a meeting with FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo on matters regarding registration of the local soccer governing body under the National Council of Sports regulations.
The meeting held at the Minister’s offices, Embassy House in Kampala was also attended by Mr. Omara Apita- Commissioner Physical Education- Ministry of Education and sports, FUFA Vice President Mr. Denis Mbidde, FUFA Chief Executive Officer Mr. Edgar Watson, and FUFA Legal Officer Mr. Denis Lukambi.
It was a closed door meeting from the media.
The deliberations between the two parties resolved, among others as follows;
- The Hon. Minister of State for Sports Hon. Charles Bakkabulindi agreed that Government will meet FIFA overriding an earlier communication written by NCS General Secretary Nicholas Muramagi that there was no need to meet the world soccer governing officials. FUFA will invite FIFA for the meeting with Government at a date to be communicated.
- The meeting also bore fruits as both Government and FUFA will hold early preparatory meetings for the crucial 2017 AFCON qualifier between Uganda Cranes and Comoros to be played on the weekend of 2nd-4th September, 2016 at Mandela National stadium. The first meeting to be chaired by the Hon. Minister will be held on 1st July, 2016.
