Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga on Monday went bare knuckle against her deputy Hon. Jacobo Oulanya calling him a greedy man.
Kadaga who is the Kamuli district woman MP also accused Hon. Sam Kutesa, the Foreign Affairs Minister of trying to bribe MPs in Busoga with 35 million shillings each to support his bid for House Speaker.
While speaking to CBS FM radio on Monday, Hon. Kadaga also accused Kutesa of sponsoring her rivals in Kamuli district, wondering what right Kutesa who hails from Ssembabaule District (Western Uganda) and has no relatives in kamuli district (Eastern Uganda) has to be sponsoring her political ‘enemies’.
Defending her achievements, Speaker Kadaga said she added the sixth floor to the parliament building, passed over 70 bills, established the women’s day-care facility in parliament and liberated parliament MPs who were in hands of Prime Minister and rejected the decision to expel the rebel MPs.
She also accused government of failing to get evidence needed to prosecute pension scam suspects, saying when the DPP Mike Chibita wrote to her, Parliament gave him the evidence through the Public Accounts Committee report on the pension scam.
Hon. Oulanyah is contesting for Kadaga’s current position while Hon. Kutesa is said to be secretly campaigning for the same, a claim he has consistently denied.
